It’s impossible to deny older women have important contributions to make to our communities. In previous lifetimes, we were the healers, the advisors and the sounding boards for others. We held unwritten knowledge, understanding and stories. Men also have great wisdom, but in women there is a blend of experience and something intangible that was once valued. Today, more than ever, older women’s gifts and knowledge must be shared and heard; we will all benefit.

We don’t have a POSITIVE word for this stage of our life; traditionally the lifestages of women were Maiden, Mother, Crone. The word “crone” has long held negative images, but while older women are being devalued for the loss of our youthful, outer “beauty”, our gifts are overlooked; even by us. The old idea of a “crone’s journey” explored instinctive ways of channelling wisdom, inner knowing, and intuition, guiding us through this transition; going inward to bring forth the light for transformation. Most mature women crave something similar even in modern times.

HerEvolution exists to remind mature women of our authentic selves, supporting the complex transformations of this life stage. A sense of being “not quite finished” can mean different things for different women; perhaps exploring a new career, taking up a creative hobby, or simply seeing oneself more clearly and kindly. Women who see their own value will be bolder in sharing their compassion, intelligence, adaptability and leadership. We must confidently become an even more positive influence in our world.
